I hope you all enjoy!  What are somethings you do that helps you stay positive during rough times?  I’d love to know!

PICTURES I LOVE || 12.19.15

Here’s a collection of pictures that I’ve taken over the years that I really enjoy looking at. :)  Enjoy.

I’m almost positive this picture was taken while my mom and I were driving through Oklahoma.  I’m not sure what the meaning behind it all is, but if I remember correctly I saw two of these crosses.  I’ve never seen anything like it.  I thought it was cool.

This photo was taken from my bedroom window in Missouri.  Doesn’t the sky look amazing?  I’ve seen some of the best sunsets in Missouri.

I’m obsessed with the moon.  I didn’t mean to get the branch and leaves but it looks so good.

Slight obsession with the moon. :)

Black and white moon!  I like this with the tree branches peeking in.

This was taken on the Black River in Watertown NY.  One of the nights my friends and I camped on ‘the island.’  Amazing memories on this river I’ll never forget.

My boyfriends brother was burning a bunch of leaves in their fire pit in the back yard and smoked out the whole neighborhood.  He ran inside and told me to come out and look.  I took this picture and I think it looks awesome with him standing there.  Looks like something out of movie.

El Paso, TX - Beautiful sunset and the mountains.

Somewhere in NY :)

My obsession with the moon, once again.

Right before I took off to St Louis, MO.  Sunsets are a beautiful thing.

My boyfriend and I were at Black Pond in Henderson Harbor, NY.  We would always bring his dog because he loves to swim.  We were watching the sun set and I looked over at them, told him to look at me and I captured this beautiful picture of them in the water.  I’m not sure what it is about this picture but I absolutely love it.  I want to get a really nice picture frame and give it to him as a present.  The water just makes it look so peaceful.  Plus, a dog is a mans best friend. ;)

DEAR 2015

Dear 2015,

Thank you for not being completely miserable like 2013 and 2014 were.  This year I really found my happiness and it’s one of the greatest feelings.  From being in such a deep dark place, I never thought I’d ever be happy.  I can proudly say I’ve been through hell and back and I rose up to be a better person and most importantly a more happier person.  I’ve learned a lot about friendships, family, and relationships in general.  Never put effort in where it shouldn’t be.  If you don’t feel something is going to benefit you, don’t do it.  Do everything that makes you happy.  Don’t think so much about what other people think because it will ruin you.

I’m thankful for all the new friendships I’ve made and how happy I am.  I’’m happy I’m happy.  I never thought I’d be this happy.  I’m happy living back in Texas and I’m content with where I’m at.  Everything is going well.  I hope 2016 is as good and even better than 2015 has been.  Always stay positive even in the darkest times.  I’m so thankful and happy happy happy.

INFATUATED WITH THE MOON || 12.13.15

One of my favorite quotes, which I have shared in a previous post is:

there was a reason
that she was so
romantic about
the moon.
it never asked her
questions or begged
for the answers nor
did she ever have
to prove herself
to it.
it was always just
there- breathing
shining,
in ways most
humans can’t understand,
-listening.
- Christopher Poindexter

I’ve always been the person who shouts “look at the moon!” when we’re outside at night.  You’ll always find me capturing photos at night, knowing what time the moon is going to rise and what phase it’s going to be.  There’s something awfully beautiful about it.  Here’s some photos I’ve caught of it over the past few months.  Enjoy.

I watched the moon rise this night.  It looked so large and amazing.  This was the best picture I could get since the power lines were in the way.

This is one of my favorite pictures of the moon that I’ve captured.  I call it ‘between the trees'

LONG TIME NO POST || 12.12.15

HELLO.

Holy cow, it’s almost been a year since my last blog post.  I regret not keeping up with this blog.  I had some extra time to just be on my computer and remembered this blog I started a year ago.  I read through all my posts and thought how amazing and interesting it was getting to re-read all my thoughts from an entire year ago.  I want to stick with it this time.  I’m not going to let anything get in my way.  I have so much to update you all on..well not a lot but, whatever. ;)

First, I moved!!! I no longer live in lost in the woods, Missouri!  I’ve moved back to Texas and I love it.  It’s December 12 and it was 77 degrees yesterday.  From growing up in New York and experiencing -30 degree weather this time of year, this is complete heaven to me!  Second, I’m a nanny.  It’s not the job I had in mind, but I really do enjoy it.  I spent this past summer in New York with my boyfriend, which is always a splendid time.

I’m really looking forward to posting many many many more posts here!  Stay tuned because there’s so much more coming your way!

01.02.15 - OPEN YOUR EYES

One reason why I love working with kids is because they’re all so innocent.  Their imagination is endless and their outlook on life makes me smile.  They believe they can be anything they wish to be and are so joyful.  One thing I wish for every kid is that they stay that way.  Stay true to themselves and always believe they can do anything they want if they put their mind to it.  I hope no one, child or adult, ever has to go through this dark never ending tunnel of loneliness and hurt.  Although I can hope and pray for hours that this will never happen to anyone, the cold hard truth is, it can happen to anybody.  It breaks my heart.  Growing up I was always shy and quiet, I’d sit back and watch everyone else play on the play ground and have these amazing friendships with their classmates, but I would sit back and watch.  For as long as I can remember I’ve always been sensitive, to everything.  When I put my feelings into something it truly means something to me and for things to be ripped away from me or people turn their backs on me, it breaks me down.  It makes me feel like I mean nothing and from all my experience, I always believe there’s someone out their better for my best friend/siblings/parents, etc.  It saddens me because these little children that I watch, their so happy, but when they reach middle school I’m so scared that they will fall into this hole because their peers make them feel like they are’t good enough.  This world is cruel and I believe we need to teach children that it doesn’t matter what size you are, if you like boys or girls, if you have acne, if you’re taller/shorter than most, it’s OK.  Most importantly we need to teach acceptance.  Just because someone doesn’t do something or believe in something that you do, doesn’t mean they have less self worth than you.  From not teaching children these things we have lost so many innocent kids who are just trying to be themselves and be happy.  From not teaching children these things we’ve taught them that it’s OK to bully the girl who may not be a size 3 or the boy sitting alone at lunch sorting out his Pokemon cards.  We have taught people that it’s not ‘cool’ to be nice to those who you wouldn’t normally see yourself hanging out with on a Friday night.  Why can’t we all realize how amazing it is that each and everyone of us has something so special that makes us so unique.  Life would be so boring if we all stuck to this imaginary list of things that make you ‘cool.’  We need to start encouraging people to love who they are and love their interests.  Every single person is going through a struggle, cut people a break.  Accept people for their creative personality, see how much love and commitment they put into the things that love and enjoy doing.  It will open your eyes to so many great things.  Don’t be afraid to start that one thing that you’ve been wanting to do for months/years just because you’re afraid of what people will think and say.  If you want it and you will enjoy it, and it brings happiness into your life, do it.  Put your everything into it and love every second of it, if you don’t at least try you will never know what opportunities that may have come from it and mostly you’ll miss out on the feeling of being proud of yourself.  You’ll look at your accomplishment and think why didn’t I do this sooner.

01.01.15 - HAPPY NEW YEAR

Everyone always says “new year, new me!” and I think that’s so lame.  You can change who you are any day, a new year doesn’t change that.  I usual set goals for myself, things I want to accomplish throughout the year.  Becoming a better you is something I think everyone should try every single day, not just for a couple days into the new year and forget about it.  So my goals aren’t going to be ‘be nicer’ ‘be a better friend’ nothing like that.  These are big things that I want to accomplish, on top of continuing to be care free and happy throughout all the ups and downs that I may go through this year.  Now at the end of this year I’m going to look back on this post and make another post and see what I actually accomplished and if I didn’t accomplish something I’ll explain why.  I think this will give me more courage to go after what goals I set.

The first thing I want to do is purchase my first semester of college.  I’m going online because I personally prefer.  I finally have enough money so I plan on starting this when I return from New York at the end of January.

My second goal ties into my first goal, but I’m hoping to at least finish half my degree by June, which may be hard because I’m starting a job and I’ll be moving so my Internet and things will be shut off in May and I’ll be on the road for a couple days to get to Texas, but if I don’t finish by then I hope to be half way done by August.

My third goal is to make a healthy transition back to Texas.  Going to place where I don’t know anybody is difficult, but I’ve moved twice in 1 year so hopefully third time is a charm and it’s easier for me.

My fourth goal is to save up money and really pay attention to what I spend my money on.  I want to be able to still afford to visit New York every few months and still be able to afford my schooling.

My fifth goal is to get a job with USAA.  I’m going to be studying child development in school so working at their daycare will be such a great experience and a plus is they might help pay for my schooling which would be such an ideal situation for me.

So those are my 5 big goals I hope to accomplish this year.  I know things won’t come easy and I’ll work hard for what I want and study even harder.  We’ll see where this year takes me and see if I’m strong enough to conquer all the battles.  I wish everyone a happy new year and I hope this year doesn’t disappoint!  What are some of your goals for 2015?

12.30.12 - MUST HAVES WHEN TRAVELING

Since I’ve been traveling a lot by plane in the past year, I feel like I’ve become an expert on what to bring. (And how to get around in airports quickly)  I put together a list a things that I never will forget to pack in my carry on for the lovely day of travel that awaits me!

1. Hair ties
Unfortunately I learned this the very very hard way.  I normally just let me hair do its thing, but the last time I flew I got lice.  Yes, lice.  I cried.  So I have learned my lesson and will never forget to have my hair up and be very cautious to where my hair is going.  Also I’d bring extra hair ties in case one breaks.

2. Wear comfy clothes
This seems like a common sense one, but I’ve seen people do some crazy things.  Make yourself as comfortable as you can.  You’re sitting on a plane/airports all day, be comfy!  Don’t wear belts because it’s hell getting through security.  Don’t wear too much jewelry.  Wear shoes that are easy to take on and off.  You’ll thank me later when the person behind you if sighing because you’re taking too long in the security line!

3. Cash
It’s dangerous to use your credit card for everything, so make sure you have cash on you if you plan on buying a meal or anything while at the airport. - My brother was traveling and he had a layover in Chicago and a couple days later he noticed someone was spending money with his credit card.  Be careful!

4. Gum
Gum helps when the plane is landing and taking off to avoid your ears popping.  It also sort of gives you something to do when you’re people watching in the airport. ;)

5. Book - Anything to keep yourself occupied
Bring a book with you, or a simple craft (bracelets, knitting, ect.) to keep you busy throughout your travels.

6. Sleeping pillow
They come in handy!  It’s impossible to get comfy on an airplane, but a pillow helps you not be the person who’s falling asleep and their head falls every 10 min. (Me)

7. Phone charger
Since airports have more outlets, bring your charger so you aren’t worried about your phone dying!  No one would like getting to their destination and not having a way to communicate with anyone.

8. Make sure you have time in between flights
You don’t want to be that person running through the airport to catch your flight.  You also don’t want that extra stress and worry on yourself while you’re traveling, so before purchasing a ticket always make sure you have at least 40 minutes between your flights.

9. Snacks
I know it’s hard getting through security with somethings, but to save money and not spend $10 on a snack bar and water, try bringing some of your own little snacks.

10. Headphones
You don’t want to listen to that crying baby on your 3 hour flight, so pop in your headphones.  If you’re like me, you don’t want people walking up to you in the airport and start a conversation, so while you wait for your flight just pop them in.

I hope this helps anyone who plans to travel soon.  I’m traveling to New York in 6 days and I know I’ll be including all these in my carry on.  Do you travel with these things?  What are some must haves for you?  Let me know in the comments below!

12.27.14 - CHRISTMAS

I hope everyone had a great Christmas! (or whatever you celebrate)  I had a great Christmas with my family.  We don’t go all out for Christmas, but we always do such a big breakfast after opening presents.  This year my mom found new recipes, a french toast dish and an egg dish.  I only had (literally half) the french toast, I wish I could wake up everyday eat that french toast it was so delicious.  I will add a post including that recipe soon.  I got so many great things for Christmas, the most exciting part for me is the stocking.  My parents always find so many little neat things to stuff in there, but it’s all useful, which I love.  This year I didn’t really ask for anything, so everything I got was such a surprise.  I’d like to share with you my two favorite things I got and include a little review on them, even though I’ve only been using them a couple days, it shows how much I love them! So, here we go!

First lets talk about my Starbucks travel mug!  I’m pretty sure it’s from their holiday dot collection, but I’m not entirely sure.  My dad totally surprised me with this.  I have a unhealthy addiction to Starbucks.  The mug really keeps your drink nice and warm, it’s pretty, and it holds a lot.  I’m so happy I got one, there’s so many different patterns and I do believe it was on sale. (so it was under $20)  It was a perfect gift, I’m always drinking coffee or tea on the go - so now I can do it in style.

Second, my clarisonic.  The smile on my face when I opened this was ridiculous.  I’ve been wanting one of these, but haven’t got the courage to spend my own money on it.  I’ve used this maybe 5 times and the difference in my skin already is crazy.  It’s super soft and I can see it helping with my acne.  I wouldn’t say I have bad acne, but I at least have 1 pimple on my face and when that time of the month comes, it’s a horrible week.  I’m hoping this helps tone it down a bit.  So far I’m so impressed with it and it makes me excited to wash my face everyday.  I recommend this to everybody, acne prone skin or not.  It’ll make your skin so smooth and soft you’ll fall in love with it.

What did you get for Christmas?  Did you get a Starbucks mug or a clarisonic?  How do you like it?  Let me know what you think in the comments below!

12.22.14 - TOP 10 FAV SONGS

Who doesn’t love some good tunes to listen to while you’re hanging out with your friends, or like me, laying around your room with your dog!  Music is something I’m listening to all the time, it’s like therapy.  Some songs make me happy, some make me sad, some are filled with memories you’ll never forget, and I think it’s absolutely amazing how music can do that, so let’s get this list started pals.

Thinking Out Loud - Ed Sheeran
This song holds a really special meaning to my heart.  I listen to this at least once a day, but more like 15 times a day.  It’s going to be one of those songs for me that never gets old.  Every time I listen to it I’m still going to smile like a dork and get butterflies. Props to you Ed, you are a genius,

Style - Taylor Swift
Taylor is filled with such sass in her new album.  To me this song is so catchy, I love everything about it.  The mood it puts me in is so great.  You’ll always catch me singing along to it.  It may possibly get annoying to me in a few months, but right now I’m loving it 100%.

Fast Life - Asher Roth
This song I always listen to with my friends.  It brings back memories, but it also reminds me to always sit back and not take life so seriously, enjoy the small moments because life does go by so fast.

Summer Nights - Iration
This song will always be so so important to me, this song is that song that holds 1000 memories with your closest friends.  My goodness, all those summer nights spent together, doing some crazy things with the 2 people that are closest to me.  This song represents our friendship and that one summer I will never forget.

One - Ed Sheeran
This song doesn’t hold a special meaning to me specifically, but I think it sends out such a great message and has such a beautiful story to go along with it.  It really lays your heart out there and I love it. Again, props to you Ed.

Santa Barbara - Nick Jonas
Now, I don’t only love this song..but I love Nick Jonas.  Hubba, hubba.  This song is so chilled and laid back I love listening to this when I’m writing or quickly picking up my room.  I personally love his whole album, but this song sticks out to me.

Night Changes - One Direction
I was never a Directioner, but I downloaded their new album and this song just gets me.  I’m not sure what it is but whenever it comes on I get happy and it gets me all up in my feels and I love it.

Take Your Time - Sam Hunt
Sam Hunt is the next big thing, I’m telling you.  This song is beautiful, it’s a mix of everything.  See for yourself how great it is.

Live For - The Weeknd
I’ve recently become obsessed with The Weeknd.  I don’t know what it is, but I love this song.  I sing/rap to it, it makes me smile.  I love the vibes.  The Weeknd isn’t usually something you’d catch me listening to, but it’s nice to step out of your comfort zone every once in awhile, am I right?

Little Do You Know - Alex & Sierra
THIS SONG MAKES ME SO SAD.  I love how beautiful their voices are, how deep and meaningful this song is.  It’s so much greatness, I CRY.  Oh it’s so lovely, give it a listen.  Their entire album is amazing, their voices are like angels.

I recommend you check out these songs on youtube or if you’re obsessed with them as I am, comment below and let me know why you enjoy them so much.  What are some of your favorite tunes?  I’m always down to listen to new music.

I am a Pinterest junky, I admit that and I may need some serious help with it, but that is not what we are talking about today!  So, while I scroll through Pinterest hours at a time I find a lot of neat things, DIY projects, ways to make your own makeup, ways to make pimples disappear over night, so many neat things.  What catches my eyes the most are the endless amounts of quotes that are on that website.  I LOVE IT.  I have an entire folder just for quotes which is labeled "words."  I would like to share a few quotes I have found with you and hopefully it speaks to you all as it spoke to me!
